Berghoff
Berghoff has four self-catering chalets: Erica, Disa, and Barbi on Berghoff itself and Klipspringer on the adjacent farm, Osdam. The chalets are situated on our commercial protea farms in the picturesque Olifantsrivier mountains above the town of Porterville. We welcome nature lovers and ask that all visitors please treat the area with respect. The chalets have situated some distance from one another, and guests are requested to keep music and noise to a minimum as most people visit our chalets to relax. We encourage mountain biking along the farm roads and hiking in the veld. The dam on Berghoff is perfectly suited for swimming and boating – a rowing boat and two canoes are available on the dam for use by our guests. Because of the altitude, we are substantially cooler than below the mountain, and even summer nights can sometimes be chilly. We have high rainfall in the winter months, and occasional snow – perfect for a fireplace, red wine, and a good book – although sunny winter’s days are abundant. In summer the sun can be harsh due to the altitude and sunblock is highly recommended.
