Andante Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Andante Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) is made from olives grown on the Wêreldsgeluk Olive Estate, owned by Willie and Lisa Duminy’s family trust. The farm is situated near Porterville, about 130 km North-East of Cape Town, in the scenic Western foothills of the Winterhoek mountains.

Cultivation, harvest timing, and milling are directed at producing the finest premium quality EVOO, with a focus on complex, harmonious flavors, and maximizing bisphenols and mono-unsaturated fats for their extraordinary culinary and health benefits.

Farming practices are ethical, sustainable, and natural where possible. Mulches and composts are used in conjunction with selected fertilizers to promote soil life and health. Pest control is by integrated pest management (IPM). Potential pest populations are monitored, and controlled by wasps, spiders, and other natural predators, rather than indiscriminate poisons. Pesticides are avoided and have not been used since 2006. Drip irrigation is used for responsible and precise water management.

A modern two-phase MORI-TEM “Cultivar” mill, renowned for top quality oil production, is used. All EVOO is cold-extracted. No artificial additives are used, and opportunities for unwanted oxidation avoided. Immediate filtration achieves a balance between optimal purification, and maximum flavor and bisphenol preservation.

The first trees were planted in March 2006, and there are now 36 hectares under cultivation in an intensive system, with about 35 000 trees of 8 cultivars.

Berghoff has four self-catering chalets: Erica, Disa, and Barbi on Berghoff itself and Klipspringer on the adjacent farm, Osdam. The chalets are situated on our commercial protea farms in the picturesque Olifantsrivier mountains above the town of Porterville. We welcome nature lovers and ask that all visitors please treat the area with respect. The chalets have situated some distance from one another, and guests are requested to keep music and noise to a minimum as most people visit our chalets to relax. We encourage mountain biking along the farm roads and hiking in the veld. The dam on Berghoff is perfectly suited for swimming and boating – a rowing boat and two canoes are available on the dam for use by our guests. Because of the altitude, we are substantially cooler than below the mountain, and even summer nights can sometimes be chilly. We have high rainfall in the winter months, and occasional snow – perfect for a fireplace, red wine, and a good book – although sunny winter’s days are abundant. In summer the sun can be harsh due to the altitude and sunblock is highly recommended.

Kaap Agri
Kaap Agri had its origins when a few farmers in the Swartland decided to jointly buy guano (bird manure) to use as fertilizer. This led to formally establishing De Westelike Graanboeren Koörporatiewe Vereniging in 1912. Over the years the company expanded with a branch and silo network in the Swartland and the Boland. From 1930 to 1950 various other cooperatives were established in neighboring towns and areas. They all basically delivered the same functions as Wesgraan. In 1981 the first large amalgamation took place when Western Province Fruitgrowers and Wesgraan joined forces to form WP (Koörperatief) Beperk. Since then further amalgamations have taken place with Drakenstein Vrugtekwekers and Wynland Koöperasie.

In 1995 WP (Koörporatief) was converted to a public company, WPK Landbou Beperk. This was the first of the former cooperatives that converted from a cooperative to a company. In the meantime, Porterville Landboukoöperasie and Noord-Boland Koörporasie amalgamated to form Boland Agri. The current Kaap Agri had its origins when WPK and Boland Agri amalgamated in 2005.

Today the Kaap Agri area of operation includes the Swartland, Boland, Wynland, Overberg, Langkloof, Namaqualand, Orange River, Sundays River Valley, Namibia, and the areas in between, as well as Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and Gauteng. Therefore Kaap Agri’s area of operation in Southern Africa.
